Ready to join the virtual revolution? Discover the secrets to writing and publishing your own profitable e-book in less than a month. Learn how to take advantage of what you know, how to avoid the #1 mistake authors make, and the secrets to creating an e-book that sells on "autopilot" 24 hours a day.

Week 1What ... Why ... How

What is an e-book?  Why sell e-books. Choosing a topic. How to make your knowledge sell. Identifying a target market. What sells and what doesn't. Hot topics. Researching the competition. How to find experts, public domain text, and unique content. Digital rights management. 10 questions to ask yourself before creating your e-book.

Week 2:  Designing your e-book

Researching your topic. Length, tone, angle. Outlining and organization. Table of contents. The importance of a good title. From first to final draft. Avoiding common writing pitfalls. Going beyond text. How to find time to write. Beating procrastination and writer's block. Keeping the reader's attention.

 Week 3Construction

Laying out the manuscript. Building your e-book. How to choose your book's format. Free software to help you create your e-book. Tools and accessories. Designing a cover. Making your e-book "user friendly."

Week 4:  Setting sale!

Pricing your book. Marketing and distribution. Ways to increase sales. How to accept credit card orders. Why you need a website (and how to get one for less than $30 a year). Affiliate programs. How to find places to sell your e-book. Using freebies and teasers to increase sales. Getting free publicity. How to brand yourself for major profits. Sample success stories.

Objective:
This course is designed to teach students how to write, publish, and market their own e-book. For 4 weeks we will work together to choose a profitable topic, learn how to write the whole manuscript in record time, research markets, and start marketing and selling online. You'll also get free access to formatting and designing software to help you create a stunning product that sells itself!

Prerequisite There are no prerequisites for this workshop.

About the Facilitator: Diana Bocco is the author of over 300 articles, short stories, and essays for national, international and online publications such as Woman's Day, Marie Claire, Adirondack Life, Writer's Digest, and Self.
